How to login to the Saab Owners club Website
Whilst this may seem a simple and straigthforward process, there are some issues which need to be made clear.
The process of obtaining a login to the site works like this :-
- You purchase a subscription via the www.saabclubmembership.co.uk site or by any of the methods described here:- How to Join
- Your membership is processed by HMCA who manage club subscriptions.
- They pass your details to the website manager
- Your details are uploaded to the site.
You can see there are two or three manual steps in this process which are liable to delay. We are working on a slicker method.
Some things you Need to Know
- Your username must be the first 6 digits of your membership number. If you have a login which is not this and which has not been specifically provided to you then you may be able to login but you will not have access to the subscribers area of the site.
- Registration to the site is not currently permitted. Unfortunately registration to the site has been found to conflict with the membership upload and so we have had to disable it. The old site did not allow this and we have yet to work out how to handle this.
- Resetting your password will generate an email to the address we have on file. If this has changed and you have not let us know then you won't receive the email and will not be able to reset your password. Please contact membership services to get this fixed.
- To change your password see How do I change my password
Logging in for users who had a login to the old site
If you are logging into the new site for the first time your password will have been reset. Your new password is made up by adding your surname to your membership number. To change your password see How do I change my password
For example; Membership number is 012345 and surname Smith then
Your username is 012345
Your password is 012345Smith
Important notes:-
- Please ensure you use your 6 digit membership number with leading zeros
- Spell your surname with a capital letter like in the above example
- Do not add your initial
- Even long surnames with hyphens obey this rule and will work
Alternatively click the ? next to password to reset your password. You will be sent an email with instructions. If you don't get an email then this is probably because the database does not have your current email address (see above). Your Username is your Membership number, unless you know better. NOTE: If you join and can't login please do not try to register and create your account. This will block the account.
Logging in for new users
- Allow a few days after purchasing membership before trying to access the site.
- The same rules apply for username and password as described for existing users i.e.
Your username is the first 6 digits of your membership number. Your password is made up by adding your surname to your membership number. To change your password see How do I change my password
For example; Membership number is 012345 and surname Smith then
Your username is 012345
Your password is 012345Smith
There are a couple of things on the system that will not work if we do not have an up to date email for you.
- Password reset. The system cannot send you the verification code.
- Classified Ads. You cannot be contacted by anyone interested in your ad or you may not be able to contact an advertiser.
The software used requires an email address so where no email address has been supplied an email address is created using the membership number e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . If you see one of these you know that there is no point in replying to it.
To check and update your email address. Login to the site. Having logged in you are taken to a Profile page. On the page there is an Edit Profile button. There you will be able to change any of your details. Important note! Any changes to your email address or other contact details should also be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We do not yet have a mechanism for automatically synchronising the membership details held on the site and those held by HMCA who process memberships for us.
How to create a Classified Ad
Members can create any classified ad for free. We do this by giving all members Points which can be used to 'buy' Ads. We initially give 1000 points whihc will currently 'buy' 200 Ads.
The allocation of points to new members is, unfortunately, a manual process so new members may find they don't immediately have points. In this case then please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating your membership number, to request your points package.
We plan, at some point in the future, to allow non-members to purchase For Sale Ads. But for now it is a Members-Only option.
